Deep sea fishing is one of the most dangerous areas of shipping. Hundreds of trawlers have been lost and thousands of deep sea fishermen perished. Historical films show impressive pictures documenting why this working environment was not only hard but sometimes life-threatening.

Five multimedia stations provide information about deep sea fishing and the equipment on the „GERA“. User-friendly touchscreens give access to films, hundreds of photographs and memorable texts.

Visitors can do their own research in a database installed in a sailor’s cabin that contains entries on all fishing vessels based in Bremerhaven and Geestemünde between 1885 and 1990.
